1970s Minnie Mouse Purple Alarm Clock by Bradley

$108.00
A wonderfully colorful 1970s Bradley Minnie Mouse mechanical alarm clock with a glossy purple case, crisp white twin bells, gold-tone hardware, and one particularly clever detail: Minnie's purple-gloved arms are the actual hour and minute hands.

The cream dial is packed with character without becoming cluttered, with bold black numerals, “MINNIE MOUSE” lettering, and the original WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS marking along the bottom. Even better, the hour markers and Minnie's fingertips feature luminous accents that react brightly under UV/blacklight, as shown in the photos.

This is an old-school, fully mechanical clock: no batteries required. It winds smoothly, ticks strongly, keeps accurate time, and the twin-bell alarm is fully functional.

📚 Historical Context

Bradley Time Corporation was an American timepiece company that became particularly well known for affordable watches, alarm clocks, and licensed character pieces. Many of its now-collectible Disney alarms were manufactured in Germany and sold to the American market during the 1970s.

And this was still the age when an alarm clock had to earn its place on the nightstand.

No phone. No digital chirp. No USB cable hiding behind the dresser. You wound a spring, a collection of gears counted the minutes, and when morning arrived, a little hammer started making introductions between two metal bells.

Bradley's contribution was to make all that machinery considerably more entertaining. Rather than simply printing Minnie Mouse onto the dial, her arms became part of the timekeeping display itself, turning the character into the clock's hour and minute hands. It was mechanical clockmaking dressed for the booming character-merchandise culture of the 1970s, right before quartz movements and digital displays began taking over bedside tables.

The result is wonderfully representative of its era: traditional German mechanical clockwork on the inside, unmistakably Disney on the outside, and absolutely no interest in being subtle.
